Living it up in the Lake Conjola Sunshine

Three hours south of Sydney is a little slice of heaven called Lake Conjola. Small communities dot the lake, some with names that evoke the holiday spirit, like Manyana and Fisherman’s Paradise. My family’s holiday house is in one of these small lakeside communities with large gum trees rising all around.

Merry Christmas!

So, it’s Christmas Day here in Chiang Mai and it was a pretty low-key day. I wasn’t able to fall asleep until the sun rose. The UN Bakery was fresh out of baguettes and French loaves, but had plenty of mince pies. I returned with the last four bread rolls and chocolate croissants to enjoy with our powdered coffee for the celebratory breakfast at 2pm.

On Dealing with Things when They Don’t Work Out

I had spent months staring at a photo I took on the Thai island of Koh Phag Ngan many (full) moons ago. I had tacked it to the wall of my cubicle and had been letting my mind wander to the soft, sandy beaches of the the island paradise and the feel of the warm sun on my skin as I sat on the porch of my beach-side bungalow, eating pad thai and drinking fruit shakes. Sounds like heaven, right?
