It has been six years (maybe more) since I pulled on a UNSW softball uniform. And I miss it. I haven’t found a team to play with here, and I have been itching to play again. So I signed up to play with work in a tournament over the weekend.
I am not a distance runner. Never have been. But my mate, Mary, has signed me up to do my first ever running race – a 3.5mile (that’s almost 6km!) – and today was my first day of training. So this is a BIG DEAL for me.
You can be exactly who you want to be in this city for San Francisco is a city of reinvention. So as you’d expect, there’s plenty of characters in my neighborhood even though my area lacks that certain ‘neighborhood’ feel.
My love for the Eurovision Song Contest goes way back. I am enamoured with their europop tunes, their obsession with white costumes and regionally biased voting. Here’s my favourite three-minute ultra-kitsch tunes for dancing around your living room.
So much of western culture is about appearances. When people ask you how you are, you respond “Great, and you?”, without pausing to consider how you really are feeling. Melancholia is not an acceptable state to declare yourself in.
