I’ve spent three of the past four days in the city but today’s quick trip was less about meeting people and more checking off my to-do. Today’s jaunt started in SoMa, headed up through the top of the FiDi and into Union Square. And now, I’ve returned home, having done most of my chores in preparation for the new week. It’s a good day. \
I arrived safely at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta. Or Hotlanta, as the locals call it. I’d finally made it to the South, something I’d always wanted to do.
In a Chicago summer, there’s a real sense of abandoning the rigid rules of daily life. Such rules no longer apply. It’s heady, fragrant, intoxicating.
Australia Day is the day we give our nation three big cheers in honor of her birthday. She’s looking pretty good for 225, don’t you think?
It’s a dark day for America. The events from Colorado yesterday are still so fresh, we’re only just starting to appreciate the scale of the horror and carnage. In order to make sense of my emotions and my thoughts about this event, I just started writing this afternoon. Four hours later, I’m still here….
